Welcome to birds of the Pacific Northwest! I am fascinated by bird behavior, where they are and what they are doing, and the associations they have with other species. Learning their habitats adds a wonderful layer to these discoveries.
These images are organized both by general species (songbirds vs shorebirds and waders), and the habitats they're found in. Willapa Bay, with its beaches, wetlands, and forests is my back yard, and I also explore the foothills east of the Cascades. As many birds use multiple areas, you may find similar photos on multiple pages. ’Best / New’ are some of my favorites plus a few insects and landscapes. And, because there are stories behind the images, Photo Stories share some of the fun of this discovery of the complex beauty of the birding world.
