I discovered the fun of bubblers almost two years ago -- and have been thoroughly enjoying them since. Attracting birds is fairly easy by providing food, shelter, and water. I'm lucky to have good trees, several bushes, and fruit-bearing shrubs along the edge of my yard, and these are great to provide food and shelter for many songbirds. In looking to add water, I found simple and inexpensive solar-powered bubblers to work very well. Initially I put one in an unused cat-litter box and set it in an old tub near a lilac bush, but within easy viewing. That proved very popular, so I added another nearby, this time using a large planter tray.
Adding a few rocks and perches with small tree branches, rocks, or (in my case), oyster shells, helps with different sizes and levels of skittishness. House finch and robins are frequent visitors, but we also see hummingbirds, juncos, flickers, and many other songbirds. An easy addition to any yard!
